- In 1973, Dan joined the
- San Diego Chargers. In
- 1978, he led the Chargers
- to their first winning
- season in a decade. Dan
- led the league in passing yards for four
- consecutive seasons (1979ΓÇô82) and broke
- 13 NFL passing records in his career. He
- even broke his own 1979 record by throwing
- for 4,715 yards in 1980 and 4,802 yards in
- 1981. He is third on the list for most yards
- gained passing (43,040), behind Fran
- Tarkenton and Dan Marino.

- In 1983 and 1986, Dan was named NFL
- Player of the Year. He was inducted into the
- Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993.
